First, out of passion, and because it's a profession that allows us to be involved in every stage of the process : from the very beginning, growing the grapes, all the way through the final stage, marketing and selling our own wines.
We also both come from farming families. This background naturally led us to study Oenology at the Bordeaux school of oenology.
"Insoumise" means unconventional or unruly, a wine estate that refuses to conform.
This property was known as " Domaine de Beychevelle" from the 17th century. Because ther was a risk of confusion with a neighbouring châteaubearing the same name, the previous owner was forced to give it up. In response to losing the name, he chose "l'Insoumise".
Our vineyard is located on the hillsides along the bank of the Dordogne river, producing red, white rosé and sparkling wines; at an equal distance in between the North pole and the Equator, inother words, right on the 45th parallel!

Just a few km from Bordeaux and easily accessible from the highway, Château l'Insoumise opens its doors for a unique wine tourism experience.
We welcome you directly to our estate to share our history, our terroir, our work and of course our wines.

Since we took over Château l'Insoumise in 2007, we have been committed to respecting and caring about the land in order to produce healthy, fully ripened grappes and ultimately wines that are rich, intense and well-balanced.
With this philosophy in mind, we have gradually refined our approach in the vineyard management. Since 2019, the vineyard has been certified "High Environnemental Value", level 3, the highest level.
This certifictaion reflects our commitment to an agroecological approach. In other words, it proomotes farming practices that are more respectuful of the environment.
